WATCH: Alvin Kamara Ties NFL Record With 6 Rushing TDs In Christmas Win

Alvin Kamara had a record-setting Christmas Day, leading the New Orleans Saints to their fourth consecutive NFC South Division title.

The Saints star running back tied the NFL record for most touchdowns in a single game with six during New Orleans' 52-33 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Friday (December 25.)

Kamara tied the record previously set by Pro Football Hall of Famer Ernie Nevers, who scored six rushing touchdowns as a member of the Chicago Cardinals during a victory over the Chicago Bears in 1929.

The previous Super Bowl era record was five rushing touchdowns in a single game, which was achieved by three players: Ricky Watters (San Francisco, 1994,) James Stewart (Jacksonville, 1997) and Clinton Portis (Denver, 2003), as well as Jim Brown (Cleveland, 1959) and Cookie Gilchrist (Buffalo, 1963) prior to the league merger.

Kamara finished the game with 172 total yards, including 155 rushing yards on 22 carries and 17 receiving yards on three catches. The Saints marched to an 11-4 record, which mathematically eliminated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from winning the division title.

New Orleans could have also won the division with a Buccaneers loss to the Detroit Lions on Saturday (December 26.) The Saints are currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture behind the Green Bay Packers, who can secure the top spot with a victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday (December 27.)
