Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park Celebrates Birth Of Baby Giraffe

The Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium, & Safari Park had a lot to celebrate this holiday season.

The Zoo welcomed in the birth of a baby Reticulated Giraffe.

Baby Noel came into the world just in time for Christmas Day and already stands over 6 feet tall!

Wildlife World Zoo shared the announcement on Facebook.

Wildlife World's Deputy Director Jeff Ewert said in a statement, "The calf is thriving under the close watch of her attentive mother. Over the next few weeks, keepers will begin to introduce mother and baby to the rest of the herd."

The giraffe population in the wild is under much stress. This is due to habitation loss, fragmentation, degradation, poaching, and the growth of the human population.

The IUC Red List of Threatened Species declared giraffes Vulnerable to Extinction.

Wildlife World has donated to worthy organizations to help the giraffes. In addition, they have raised 13 giraffes over the course of the last 19 years.

Mickey Ollson, founder of the Wildlife World Zoo believes the zoo's success with the internationally recognized breeding program is due to the expertise and dedication of the management, zookeepers, veterinary team, and Arizona's ideal climate.
