Harry Styles just released the music video for his song “Treat People with Kindness.”
On New Year’s Day (January 1), the singer-songwriter unveiled a dreamy, black-and-white visual for the Fine Line track, which stars Fleabag actress-creator Phoebe-Waller Bridge. The whimsical, cinematic visual sees Styles playing the part of the dancing, dapper loverboy on stage as Bridge gazes from her table in the venue. Not long before Bridge appears on the scene, Styles charms her with a serenade before bringing her on stage to dance the night away with him.
“Giving second chances/ I don't need all the answers/ Feeling good in my skin/ I just keep on dancin’” the 25-year-old croons in the feel-good ditty. “Maybe, we can/ Find a place to feel good/ And we can treat people with kindness/ Find a place to feel good.”
“Treat People With Kindness” is named after Styles’ mantra of the same name, which he previously spoke about while promoting his sophomore album.
“I had an idea of writing a song to go with it and it turned into a tribute, it’s just really fun,” Styles told Music Week at the time, explaining that the record is loosely inspired by the words of David Bowie. “I’d seen this clip of David Bowie talking saying that you usually end up doing your best work when you feel like you can’t quite touch the bottom, and realizing that the fact that it made me feel a little uncomfortable didn’t mean it was a bad song was big thing.”
“Small changes end up making a big difference,” he explained. “It’s about being a lot nicer to each other rather than, ‘Don’t do this, or don’t do that, not this yes that.’ It’s just saying, ‘Treat people with kindness,’ you know.”
