The pandemic hasn't been able to stop love - at least not in Clark County.

Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya told Fox 5 that there was a rush of couples in Las Vegas trying to get a marriage license before the end of the year. She said:

“We had over 400 couples come [on December 31]. Over 300 the day before, and over 200 the day before that. We suspect most of them are going to try to get married [January 1]. Get married on the first day of this new year when everyone is so relieved to have 2020 over.”

Even though the Clark County Marriage License Bureau was closed for a month in April because of the pandemic, people still came to the Wedding Capital of the World to tie the knot.

Goya told the TV station that the bureau issued about 20% fewer marriage licenses because of a drop in international marriages.

The pandemic didn't stop Californians from getting married in Las Vegas either. For the first time ever, Clark County issued more marriage licenses to people from California than Nevada residents. The county issued 14,089 licenses to California couples while 13,702 went to Nevadans.

Another 3,560 licenses went to couples from Texas.
