Not everyone is following COVID-19 protocol, including the batch of partygoers who attended a New Year’s celebration on a boat off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and their irresponsibility was caught on social media as the ship went down under the sea.

In celebration of the New Year, California-based circuit party organizer Jeffrey Sanker proceeded with his plans to ignore local city regulations and charge $120 for pre-sale tickets to attend the men-only, clothing-optional party. With go-go dancers, open bars and music, the event was kept on the down-low as Sanker asked the 60 attendees to keep details about its location under wraps and swerve the temptation to post on social media. Still, @GaysOverCOVID caught wind of the notice, put the organizer on blast and things went viral.

Fate had a funny way of paying mind to the event as the boat ended up capsizing around 5:00 PM local time, prompting S.O.S. signals to be dispersed by the crew. "It was like the Titantic. It went all down slowly," Chicago-based attendee Emilio Blanco admitted of the incident. "We were about to sail back to Puerto Vallarta, but the catamaran barely moved…. I think the crew just didn’t know how to maneuver the catamaran very well, the sea was not very rough nor was it too windy."
