Denver Counties Move From Red To Orange Level On COVID-19 Dial

After several months in the Red level, the strictest COVID-19 dial level, several counties moved to Orange on Monday, January 4.

In an announcement last week Governor Jared Polis announced that the COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations were stable enough to allow for certain counties to move down a level.

Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas, Jefferson, Boulder, Broomfield, and Clear Creek are some of the counties that are now under Orange level restrictions as of Monday, January 4.

According to 9NEWS, counties can switch between levels after the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) looks at three key metrics: new cases, percent positivity, and impact on hospitalizations.

The counties' previous Red level restrictions were aimed mostly at businesses like restaurants and bars with its ban on indoor dining.

Although bars remain closed under Orange level restrictions, restaurants are allowed to reopen indoor dining at 25% capacity, a 50-person max, and keep separate parties 6 feet apart.

The level also moves last call to 10:00 P.M.

Outdoor events and entertainment are also allowed to run at a 25% capacity.

Gyms and fitness centers are allowed to operate with a 25-person max indoors.
