James Marsden almost had a starring role in Magic Mike. During a recent episode of the Late, Late Show, the 27 Dresses actor revealed the reason he turned down a role in the film.
"I had the fear that I would be edited out of the movie," Marsden told host James Corden. "Just all my lines would be cut out and I'd be an extra just rushing around in a g-string. So I think it was a lack of courage on my part. But then I was like, 'What am I doing?' ... I should have just done it."
In case you've never heard of Magic Mike before, the movie follows Channing Tatum's titular Mike and the rest of his all-male revue co-stars. Marsden didn't reveal which role he was offered, however, a few other big names did actually sign on to the film, as well as its sequel, including Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello.
"I have friends and family that still think it was a wise idea for me not to do it, because they don't want to see me like that," Marsden joked. "I could have probably jumped in and had fun with that."
If a third Magic Mike film ever happens, we'll keep our fingers crossed Marsden makes an appearance.
