An Oregon ski resort said they want to keep staff and guests safe during the pandemic.

To do that, Mt. Hood Meadows said they will start suspending passes for guests who ignore their face mask policy, according to KPTV.

"We are going to start suspending skiers or snowboarders who aren't in compliance with our face mask policies," Dave Tragethon said, the Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Mt. Hood Meadows. "What this means is, our minimum expectation of our guests coming to Meadows is covering their mouth and nose with an appropriate face covering from the time frame they are at the ski area."

Only people who argue or don't comply will get their passes suspended. The ski resort added that they will remind people if their mask isn't covering their mouth and nose.

Reporters said only a handful of people had their passes pulled for two weeks, and staff hopes people will continue to follow guidelines for the rest of the season.

This week, Gov. Kate Brown directed state health officials to aim for 12,000 COVID-19 vaccinations by the end of two weeks. "This is an all-hands-on-deck effort," she said.
