A neighbor on horseback helped sheriffs chase a man suspected of burglarizing a barn near Roseville, according to authorities.
About $5,000 worth of horseback riding equipment was stolen from a Watt Avenue barn on New Year's Eve according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Authorities are unsure of what time the theft occurred.
However, a day later the owner of the barn learned the identity of the suspect.
According to deputies the Watt Avenue barn owner went to confront the suspect and discovered that other ranch employees had already approached him.
Those at the scene contacted the police, but the suspect managed to get away before deputies arrived.
The suspect escaped on foot and was jumping fences and running through fields to get away, according to CBS13.
As a chase for the suspect began, a neighbor who saw the situation unfold saddled his horse and went after the suspect.
He was eventually caught and arrested with the help of a law enforcement aircraft.
The suspect has been reported as 22-year-old Timothy Riolo from Lincoln. He is now facing charges of burglary and concealing stolen property.
According to the sheriff's office, Riolo also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Sutter County.
Deputies say most of the items stolen from the Watt Avenue barn have been recovered.
