A Utah family is hoping to find their stolen dinosaur.

The dinosaur is a green Sinclair dinosaur, and it was stole from their front yard late on Friday night.

Robert Gonda said that his home surveillance camera didn't capture the theft, however, based on images snapped at an interval, it seems that it only took a few minute for the thieves to snatch the statue.

Gonda told KSL, "It was there one second and then gone the next. Somewhere in a 3-minute span it just disappeared."

According to Gonda, the dinosaur weighs about 200 pounds so the theft could not have been easy.

One family member explained that the dinosaur held great sentimental value.

Shaylee Gonda said, "I worked so hard for it and to have it gone — I was just so upset. It took me almost a year to save up that money — birthday, Christmas, most of my savings."

Robert said, "It's something I've always wanted. It's special for me that she purchased it for me and it was special for her to give it to me."

The theft was reported to Draper Police, but they are just hoping that the thieves will return it.

"It's heartbreaking to me," Shaylee said.
