Many Americans aspire to drop some weight when the new year comes. Even when resolutions are not a motivating factor, there's nothing wrong with getting more fit year-round.
Maintaining a consistently active lifestyle is key to losing weight, but it's becoming more difficult. Some cities lack sidewalks or neighborhood parks. The COVID-19 pandemic forced many fitness centers and public spaces closed or into tight restrictions.
Despite these challenges, there are many ways to stay active while practicing social distancing. Virtual fitness classes are an option, and most parks are open with restrictions.
WalletHub looked at 100 U.S. cities to see which ones are great for keeping an active lifestyle. According to the study, six Florida cities made it on the list:
- Orlando (No. 22)
- Tampa (No. 28)
- Jacksonville (No. 39)
- Miami (No. 47)
- St. Petersburg (No. 62)
- Hialeah (No. 99)
"Two of Americans’ top four New Year’s resolutions are 'exercising more' and 'losing weight,'" Adam McCann wrote. "At the same time, as many as 80% to 91% of people fail to keep their resolutions each year."
