The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has new dates. The annual event will now take place over two weekends in the fall: October 8-10 and October 15-17.

Jazz Fest 2020 was unfortunately canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, and this year's dates were originally set to begin in April.

The Jazz Fest isn't the only local event being rescheduled for the fall. Officials with the annual French Quarter Festival recently announced it would move to the end of September, after originally being set for April.

"Although French Quarter Fest typically takes place in April, the ongoing COVID crisis has mad it necessary for us to remain flexible," said Emily Madero, CEO of FQFI. "As one of the largest free music and food festivals in the United States, we always want to ensure our impact is in the best interests of the City and our French Quarter neighbors and businesses."

The Jazz Fest will begin the following weekend after the French Quarter Fest, so this fall is sure to bring some much-needed fun to New Orleans residents and visitors alike.

Moving both large events to October now means that the festivals will take place during the middle of hurricane season. With any luck, the 2021 season won't be as active as last year.
