A winning Powerball ticket worth $150,000 has gone unclaimed after no one stepped forward to collect the money.

The ticket was sold this summer at Windsor's King Soopers store, reports the Coloradoan. On August 1, 2020 several of the ticket's numbers were drawn.

Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings.

According to the Coloradoan if no one claims the winning ticket by January 27, the money will go to Colorado Lottery's beneficiaries. These include Great Outdoors Colorado, Conservation Trust Fund, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

This isn't the first time a big prize has gone unclaimed though.

A spokesperson from the Colorado Lottery Meghan Dougherty said that Colorado Lottery saw a $1 million Mega Millions win go unclaimed in 2016 and a $2 million Powerball win in 2013 in an email to the the Coloradoan.

"It is rare, but not unheard of for a large win to go unclaimed," wrote Dougherty.

Colorado Lottery has seen 16 jackpots go unclaimed in its history., but the last time it happened was in 2004.

However, thousands of smaller lottery prizes, some as low as $1, go unclaimed each year.
