In American culture, taking a drive can be a relaxing and therapeutic activity. But, driving can also be a cause of stress for everyday commuters. No one likes being stuck in traffic, but the U.S. happens to have five of the world's 25 worst cities for traffic.
In 2021, a significant amount of people are working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, surely making the roads less congested everywhere.
To find out how these new changes reflected on the road, WalletHub compared all 50 states across indicators of a positive commute to find out where each state ranks in terms of driving.
According to the study, Colorado is one of the worst states to drive in. The state came in No. 41, placing it at the top of the ten worst states.
Colorado is joined by these states for being the worst when it comes to driving:
- New Jersey (No. 42)
- New Hampshire (No. 43)
- Pennsylvania (No. 44)
- Rhode Island (No. 45)
- Delaware (No. 46)
- Maryland (No. 47)
- California (No. 49)
- Washington (No. 48)
- Hawaii (No. 50)
Colorado was also mentioned in one of WalletHub's other key findings during the study. According to their researchers, Colorado was one of the five top states with the highest car theft rates.
