Atlanta is expected to be one of the hottest housing markets in 2021, according to predictions by Zillow.
The real estate data hub released its predictions Tuesday (January 19), showing a likely “sunbelt surge” this year.
Austin is expected “to outperform the national market by the largest margin,” according to a panel of economists and real estate experts. The panel expects Phoenix, Nashville, Tampa and Denver to follow.
Panelists weighed in on the Zillow Home Price Expectation Survey, which Zillow sponsors and Pulsenomics LLC conducts each quarter, according to Zillow’s press release.
This edition surveyed 113 experts from November 23, 2020 to December 8, 2020, according to Zillow.
"The pandemic has not upended the housing market so much as accelerated trends we saw coming into 2020," Zillow senior economist Jeff Tucker said in the release. "These Sun Belt destinations are migration magnets thanks to relatively affordable, family-sized homes, booming economies and sunny weather. Record-low mortgage rates and the increased demand for living space, coupled with a surge of Millennials buying their first homes, will keep the pressure on home prices there for the foreseeable future."
