Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher's youngest son, Jacob, turned 2 years old on Thursday (January 21). The country star turned to social media to mark the special day with a sweet message to her baby boy.
"Jacob, we longed for you. We prayed for you," she wrote alongside a photo of Jacob as a newborn. "We walked a long, hard road in order to one day hold you. Today you are two. You are silly and strong. You love to play and sing and follow your big brother around. You are loved. You are cherished. You are an incredible blessing from God. Happy birthday, sweet boy!"
Fisher also turned to his Instagram page to celebrate his son's birthday, sharing a photo of Jacob wearing Batman pajamas, sunglasses, and hockey skates.
"Happy 2nd birthday Jacob!" the former NHL star wrote in the caption. "You’ve brought so much joy to our family the last 2 years! Your laugh may just be the best thing in the world:) Can’t wait to see what God has in store for you in the years ahead! #happybirthday."
Before Jacob arrived in 2018, Underwood revealed she had suffered three miscarriages. In 2020, the singer opened up about the difficult experience in her and Fisher's I Am Second video series, Mike and Carrie: God & Country, admitting she never imagined she'd have this experience herself.
"It sounds wrong when you say it, but, it's one of those 'bad things that happen to other people,' you know what I mean?" Underwood said in the video as tears weld up in her eyes. "It's not something that you ever envision yourself having to deal with."
After going through three miscarriages and worried about having a fourth, she had a conversation with God.
"I had an honest conversation with God, and I told him how I felt. I was hurt. I was a little angry and, of course, you feel guilty for being mad at your creator," Underwood said. "And I told him we needed something. We needed to have a baby or not, ever, because I couldn't keep going down that road anymore."
Underwood's fears were put to rest as the couple eventually welcomed their second child, Jacob on January 21, 2019. Jacob joined his big brother Isaiah, who is now 5-years-old.
