New Cardi B music is on the way!
According to Page Six, the "WAP" rapper's next single will drop very soon.
A music industry source recently told the outlet they "heard a banging new track" by Cardi, and described the upcoming single as “definitely a club song [... that] has a lot of energy.”
The outlet also noted that "a decision over what single will be Cardi’s next is still being decided."
Back in December, Cardi assured fans that 2021 would be the year of new music, tweeting, “Music coming sooner than you think. I mean it this time.” She doubled down on her promise during an Instagram Live that month. After being asked questions about new music, Cardi reportedly said, new bangers were on the way and "not [in] nine months or whatever," but "very, very f***ing soon, OK.”
In December, Cardi additionally spoke about her forthcoming sophomore album during an interview withBillboard for their "Woman of the Year" issue, admitting that the LP was not full of "deep" tracks because she still gets "uncomfortable" when rapping about her personal life.
"When it comes to me writing or putting ideas of my personal life [in the music], I get really shy," she told the outlet. "When I perform songs like 'Be Careful' or 'Ring,' I usually close my eyes because I get really shy about showing that lovey-dovey side."
Cardi added, "When it was time to get more creative with my love side or my R&B side, I was like, 'This makes me feel weird and uncomfortable. [...] Even to my engineer, I start giggling. I be like, 'Oh, my God, I can’t. This is so embarrassing.'"
The Bronx native went on to share how she was first "influenced by a lot of Chicago drill music," saying "that’s the type of artist I always wanted to be: I like to rap about the streets, and I like to rap about my pu**y. I don’t give a f**k about it."
However, Cardi noted that she's "getting better" at opening up in her music and has "one song that is very personal and deep" on her upcoming album. "It’s with another female artist, but even when I was recording it, I had to take a lot of breaks," she shared. "I was looking at my engineer and he was looking like, 'Yeah, Cardi, I feel you.'"
