Two Colorado cities have ranked in the top 15 of safest places to live in the U.S.

One city even made it into the top 10.

A new study by the U.S. News & World Report ranked its best places to live for 2021 by comparing American metro cities on their job market index, value index, quality of life index, desirability index, and net migration (how many people are moving to or away from a metro area).

They also factored in each metro area's murder and property crime rate per 100,000 people based on FBI crime reports.

According to their findings Boulder, Colorado is the 7th safest place to live, and Fort Collins, Colorado is the 12th safest place to live in the U.S.

The study gave Fort Collins a Quality of Life rating of 7.6 and Boulder a rating of 8.3.

Local expert Katy Marquardt called Boulder a haven for residents seeking wellness with its, "city-led forest bathing and free mediation sessions to an abundance of marijuana dispensaries, spas and alternative health care studies."

Josh Rhoten, the local expert for Fort Collins, praised the area for its nationally known breweries and outdoor recreation options.
