A Florida man on his way to work came across someone he didn’t expect: a 2-year-old boy wandering alone.
It turns out the toddler was reported missing earlier that Tuesday (January 26). The boy's father came home from work, and both parents noticed their child was missing, according to the Associated Press. Officials believe the toddler may have opened the door while his mother was sleeping.
Officers were called to the apartment complex around 3 a.m. Multiple K-9 units and even a helicopter were deployed during the search. Around 6:15 a.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office got a call from a man.
This man told deputies he spotted the boy about a half-mile from the apartment complex.
Officers confirmed the child was the missing toddler and said he was in “good" condition. The sheriff's office thanked the "observant citizen" on Twitter for finding the boy.
