The Cleveland Metropolitan School District has a plan for employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccination clinics will be set up at Max Hayes High School and East Tech. There isn’t currently a plan to vaccinate students, according to 19 News. Although some school districts in Ohio will start to receive vaccines next week, the school district does not plan to begin to distribute them at that time.
Eric Gordon, CEO of the school district, released a plan Monday (January25) breaking staff into five groups:
- Group 1 includes employees who work in-person, which includes custodians, security, secretaries, bus drivers and others.
- Group 2 includes operations employees, including administrators, Cleveland Teacher’s Union educators in Phase 1A, athletic coaches and others.
- Group 3 includes any remaining administrators and support specialists, advisors, mental health agency providers, educators in Phase 1B, and others.
- Group 4 includes educators in the Phase 2 Hybrid, student teachers, substitute teachers and others.
- Group 5, if permitted, include the central office staff and members of the Board of Education.
The school district aims to cover any costs in connection with the vaccine and help employees by offering incentives if they choose to get vaccinated. The district also aims to give paid time off to employees who experience any side effects from the vaccine, Gordon said.
