A New England woman has been arrested in relation to an incident where police say she smashed another individual's face with a 24-ounce can of Twisted Tea.

Faith Haggerty, 30, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, surrendered to Merrimack Police on charges including simple assault and domestic violence, WHDH reports.

Police said the alleged incident took place during the night of January 18. The victim approached a Merrimack Police officer who was parked at a local business and said a woman, identified as Haggerty, struck her in the face with the malt beverage can.

The victim experienced facial bruising from the incident, police confirmed. Merrimack Police issued an arrest warrant for Haggerty, who surrendered to authorities on Tuesday (January 27,) WHDH reports.

Haggerty has since been released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned in Merrimack 9th Circuit Court on February 9.

This isn't the first strange incident involving Twisted Tea in New Hampshire. In May 2020, a man reportedly threatened to stab a Rite Aid employee before stealing two 18 packs of the malt beverage after being told it was too late to purchase alcohol, CBS Boston reports.

That incident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. on a Sunday at a store in Manchester.
