A new Mediterranean food spot is now in Fresno.
Mayd Modern Mediterranean is serving popular dishes with their own twist.
"It's that seasoning that will give that Mediterranean feel but done with tri-tip. So really juicy, great option," co-owner Rema Koligian told ABC30. "Lamb meatballs. We've got traditional sauces like tzatziki, but our take on a feta spread."
The restaurant is located inside a remodeled space that used to be called Butterfish on Herndon and Palm Avenue.
"We've been wanting to do a new take on Mediterranean food and we thought this was a perfect opportunity to do that," said Koligian. "To consolidate our Butterfish locations, but utilize this space to bring something new to Fresno."
Similar to Butterfish, customers build their own bowls with a base, protein, sauces, and toppings.
The owners wanted to create a fast and casual concept for the restaurant by developing their own app.
The team also owns Butterfish and Heirloom restaurants, according to ABC30.
"The standard safe route is just not as exciting, so we love that we get to have a little more variation in what we can bring to Fresno and I'm really excited about that," said Koligian.
The local restaurant owners told ABC30 that they have something else planned and hope to feed more residents in the Central Valley soon.
