It looks like we'll be graced with new HAIM music in the near future!

As reported by Deadline on Thursday (January 28), HAIM will be composing new original music for the upcoming animated Netflix movie The Witch Boy.

Based on Molly Knox Ostertag’s 2017 graphic novel, the animated film “takes place in a secret, magical community where girls are born to be witches and boys grow into shapeshifters” but the film's main character, Aster, develops witch powers and the film will follow his journey to figure out his powers and learn about himself.

While there's no word yet on what type of music the sisters will be making (fully instrumental? Lyrics?), the new film will be Este, Alana, and Danielle's first time creating original music for a feature film and we can't wait. This also means we'll be getting way more than just one soundtrack song from the Grammy-nominated trio.

Previously, HAIM offered up their talents to The Croods: A New Age soundtrack. In other firsts, Alana is scheduled to make her major acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming untitled '70s drama. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he directs their music videos including, “Right Now,” “Hallelujah,” and “The Steps.”

In the newest episode of Song Exploder, HAIM discussed their songwriting for the 2019 single “Summer Girl” with their producer Ariel Rechtshaid — who we may see producing the soundtrack for The Witch Boy alongside the sisters.

Listen below to learn how they take small ideas and turn them into full-fledged songs.
