Winter Storm Orlena continues to slowly move east across the country, bringing heavy snow and high winds to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Over 80 million people are under winter weather warnings, watches, and advisories.

Orlena has already brought heavy rain and snow to a large swath of the country, starting in California before strengthening as it moved toward the midwestern states. The massive storm stretches from the western border of Illinois all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. It could dump more than a foot of snow in Chicago by Monday (February 1) morning. Detroit and Cleveland have received around six inches of snow and could see more before the end of the day.

As the storm moves east, it will merge with a low-pressure system off the Atlantic coast and become a nor'easter.

"This can allow for snowfall totals to really build up over large areas of the Northeast," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rossio said.

Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City, are all bracing for the largest snowstorm of the winter as some areas could see up to two feet of snow by Monday night.

In addition to heavy snow, the storm will also bring high winds with gusts approaching 50 mph in some areas, and the potential for flooding along the coast.

The storm is expected to head towards the Northeast, bringing up to a foot of snow to Boston by Tuesday.
