The only thing Texans love as much as Texas is football so it's no surprise that Dallas ranked as #2 on WalletHub's list of best cities for football fans.
A study by the financial website compared over 200 cities across the country to determine which are the best for football fans, for both NFL and college. Pittsburgh edged Dallas out of the #1 spot because it ranked high for having an accessible NFL stadium and having engaged fans.
When it came to judging cities with pro teams, the study compared the teams performance levels, average ticket price, attendance, fan engagement, and other metrics.
After ending the season with a 6-10 record, the Cowboys' #2 ranking likely benefited from Dallas being one of 19 teams that allowed fans to attend games in 2020. They lead the league with an average 28,000 fans per home game, according to ESPN.
Dallas was the only city to crack WalletHub's Top 10, while Houston came in at #28.
The other top cities for football fans are:
- Pittsburgh
- Dallas
- Boston
- Green Bay
- New York
- Miami
- New Orleans
- Los Angeles
- Indianapolis
- San Francisco
