Residents with vaccination appointments at Bojangles Coliseum will now have a new mode of transportation thanks to the Charlotte Area Transit System. Starting Wednesday (February 3), CATS will provide direct bus service routes to the venue, one from the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC) and one from Eastland Community Transit Center.

The new service, which still requires the $2.20 local fare, will operate Monday through Saturday starting at 7:30 a.m. The last direct trip to the Coliseum will leave each transit center at 4:30 p.m.

Each route will stop at two location at the Coliseum. The first stop will be for those receiving their first dose of the vaccine, and the second stop is for those getting their second dose. More information on the direct service and which bays to take can be found on the city's website here.

North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen announced that the state has surpassed more than 1 million vaccinations to frontline workers and North Carolinians 65 and older.

"I am so grateful to our vaccine partners across the state who continue working in innovative ways to make sure North Carolinians have a spot to take their shot," she said. "It is incumbent on all of us to use the limited supply of vaccine we have as quickly and equitably as possible, finding new ways to meet people where they are."

NCDHHS is also launching a new video series starting February 2 focused on discussing the available coronavirus vaccines and the state's distribution plan.
