A Nashville family is rejoicing after reuniting with their beloved pet who went missing on Saturday (January 30) after a car crash. The McKay family was devastated after Fergus, their 200-pound Irish Wolfhound, disappeared after being thrown from a broken car window.

The McKays were stopped at the intersection of Franklin Road and Tyne Boulevard when they were rear-ended by another vehicle, shattering their car windows and throwing Fergus from the car. The McKays sustained minor injuries during the crash, but the thought of losing their beloved pet hit them emotionally.

According to the family, they lost track of Fergus after he crossed to the parking lot of Judson Baptist Church, where he appeared to be limping. When he went missing, he took a part of their family with him as they have had Fergus since he was 2 months old.

"Fergus is a member of the family," McKay said Monday. "We got him when he was a pup and getting home last night it just felt so quiet without him."

To help the McKays find their lost family member, a community Facebook page called "Find Fergus" was set up to gather information about any sightings of the hound. The group, which had more than 1,900 members as of Wednesday, posted a photo of Fergus after he reunited with his family.

As for how Fergus is doing, the Facebook page said he had some "bumps and bruises" from the time away from his family, but is otherwise healthy.

Video of the emotional reunion can be found at News Channel 5.
