Atlanta police arrested a man who allegedly stole a car and crashed it into a hotel lobby in downtown Atlanta.

The man is accused of stealing the vehicle in Macon. Law enforcement officials did not immediately disclose how the man ended up in Atlanta or how the crash through the Sheraton Atlanta lobby happened. The man got out of the car and fled into the Courtland Street hotel after the crash, 11 Alive reported.

Authorities found the suspect after searching the building, including by shutting down the elevators.

The suspect was not immediately identified Thursday morning (February 4).

The circumstances surrounding the vehicle theft were not immediately clear.

However, Atlanta police recently warned the public not to leave their cars running while unattended, including while waiting for them to warm up or getting out during an ATM stop.

That warning came after Ludacris reported his Mercedes-Benz stolen during an ATM stop in Atlanta. Police recovered the rapper’s car and returned it to him later that evening.

Ludacris has since laughed it off on Instagram.

Police say that nearly 100 vehicles were stolen in the Atlanta area during the first week in January, including 76 that had keys accessible to the suspects.
