Unemployment numbers have been at an all-time high the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
By the end of 2020, it was reported that almost 11 million Americans were unemployed, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Even when we lived in a pre-pandemic world, looking for a job could be exhausting and degrading. It seems like most industries are saturated with qualified applicants and it can be hard to make yourself stand out.
As the COVID-19 vaccines slowly roll out, and companies get used to navigating the "new normal," more jobs will likely become available.
To help get people prepared for what the job market will look like, CareerCloud conducted a study to find the most competitive jobs in every state.
For California, their research found that food prep and serving is the most competitive job industry at the moment. With the locally owned food spots struggling to keep up and California's seemingly everchanging coronavirus restrictions, it makes sense.
The study also determined the top job for each state with California's being personal care aides.
Throughout America, CareerCloud found that the three most common jobs are retail salesperson, cashier, and food prep and service worker.
