Northeast Ohio’s upcoming “polar plunge” is expected to bring freezing temperatures that Ohioans haven’t endured in years.
On Friday (February 5), the high will be in the 20s.
Bask in those temperatures now, because that’ll be the warmest day for at least the next eight days, Fox 8 pointed out Friday morning. The last time Northeast Ohioans bundled up for sub-zero temperatures was on February 1, 2019.
The coming days will bring the coldest air that Northeast Ohioans have experienced in about two years, with single-digit temperatures on the way and a possible winter storm coming on Valentine’s Day (February 14). By Sunday (February 7), lows are expected to reach single-digit temperatures as the strong winds gusting through the area pushes colder air into the state, Fox 8 explained.
Currently, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Cleveland and other parts of northern Ohio bordering Lake Erie.
A gale warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Friday evening. From Saturday (February 7) through Thursday (February 11), the National Weather Service warns of a “rapid expansion of the ice coverage on Lake Erie is expected over the weekend and into early next week as an arctic airmass arrives.”
