How A New 'Luxury Dog Treats' Business Also Helps A Wisconsin Nonprofit

If you’re all about pampering your pet, Grace Wang has a treat for you.

Petphoria is a new, Madison-based business that offers “luxury dog treats with a furpose” (purpose).

“I wanted something to be able to purchase and gift right away,” Wang — whose dog, Beni, also serves as a face for the company — explains on Petphoria’s website. “So I decided to create a solution to finding ready-to-gift dog treats that are not only luxurious but are the best tasting dog treats around.”

To get her new business off the ground, Wang turned to Kickstarter, and her campaign raised more than $3,500 to start Petphoria, according to Madison Magazine. The business opened in December with four treat flavors: Peanut Barker, Pawfect Stew, Blueberry Apple Paws and Carrot Crunchies.

And, like she promised, the packaging makes each treat “ready-to-gift.”

Adding to the “furpose” of Petphoria, Wang partnered with The Eisenhower “IKE” Center, a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization that helps adults who are living with disabilities find employment opportunities.

Wang “wanted to be more involved in the community and give back in a way that is unique to the traditional non-profit donation (which we will still be doing),” she explained on Petphoria’s website. “This partnership not only gives us direct visibility into how our dollars are being used, but also gives us the comforting feeling that we are truly helping make an impact in peoples lives.”
