Diplo is seemingly supporting Morgan Wallen amid the country star’s recent controversy for using the N-word.

This appeared to be the case on Sunday night (February 7) when the Grammy-winning record producer was recorded on video deejaying a Super Bowl party in Florida, where he spun their hit collaboration, “Heartless,” for a crowd of over 2,000 maskless fans at the WTR Tampa Pool.

Granted, the audience appeared to be noticeably indifferent to the song, with many showing little to no enthusiasm to sing along. (Watch the video below.)

For Diplo, it’s a questionable decision considering the “Whiskey Glasses” star has been kicked off nearly every major platform that once played his music after a video of the 27-year-old hurling the N-word surfaced last week. In addition to being widely denounced by his country music peers, Wallen has also been dropped by his agency, William Morris Endeavor, and suspended by his record label since the fallout.

In a statement addressing his use of the racial slur, Wallen admitted he is “embarrassed and sorry.”

“I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back,” he said in a statement. “There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

Days later, Morgan’s sister, Ashlyne, came to her brother’s defense in a lengthy Instagram post imploring fans to be forgiving and to give him a second chance to right his wrongs, stating, “He is not the kind of person who would ever want to hurt anyone, but contrary to popular belief, he’s also human. And sometimes, humans make mistakes.”
