Adventure Church's efforts to buy Fresno's historic Tower Theatre has caught attention from social media thanks to comedian Sarah Silverman.
On Monday, February 8, Silverman quote retweeted a video from The Fools Collaborative on Twitter showing footage from the recent protest against Adventure Church buying out Tower Theatre.
Silverman's tweet showed she held the same concerns as protesters and proposed that some of her celebrity friends either buy the theatre out from under the church or start a GoFundMe.
"So... it's for sale if someone wants to scoop them," wrote Silverman.
She then proceeded to mention the LGBT Foundation, comedian Chelsea Handler, and prominent LGBT celebrities Ellen Degeneres and Neil Patrick Harris.
So an anti-LGBT church called Adventure church is trying to buy The Tower theater in the most lgbt friendly area of Fresno (the arts district, obvs♥️) So... it’s for sale if someone wants to scoop them @LGBTfdn @chelseahandler @TheEllenShow @ActuallyNPH or maybe a Gofundme? https://t.co/m00g7fdN18

As Adventure Church continues its talks with the City of Fresno, "Save The Tower Theatre Protests happen every Sunday from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on the corner of Olive & Wishon.
After the immediate outcry from Fresno residents, Mayor Jerry Dyer and the City of Fresno proposed a long-term lease agreement to have the church use the Fresno Memorial Auditorium on the condition they wouldn't buy Tower Theatre.
However, Adventure Church rejected the city's offer, saying it did not fit their needs.
