Cherry Creek High School Student Facing Charges For Setting Fire On Campus

An 18-year-old Cherry Creek High School student is facing charges for starting a fire in the school bathroom, according to authorities.
South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the East Building at Cherry Creek High School on Tuesday, February 9, reports KDVR.
SMFR responded to the call just before 3:00 P.M. and by 3:53 P.M. they posted on their Twitter that they had put out the fire and crews were ventilating smoke.
"A 2nd Alarm was initially called and has now been canceled. Investigators responding," SMFR tweeted.
Students and staff were evacuated from the building and no injuries were reported.

After the smoke was cleared from the building, the SMFR Fire Marshal's Office began investigating the cause.
By the end of the day, personnel from the SMFR Fire Marshal's Office along with Greenwood Village Police Department and Cherry Creek Schools Security, found that an 18-year-old student started the bathroom fire.
Charges against the student are currently pending. Officials have not yet released what charges the student is facing.
