Some artistically talented men at the Avenal State Prison have used their creative outlet for a great cause.

The incarcerated artists being held at the prison used their skills to design and paint special artwork on skateboards.

Those specialized skateboards will be donated to the Fresno Skateboard Salvage, a nonprofit group that gets better equipment into the hands of young skaters around the Central Valley.

FOX26 says the art is done on old used boards that aren't meant to be ridden.

So the artwork will be auctioned off through Fresno Skateboard Salvage's Annual Auction.

The money that is fundraised from their boards will be used to buy underprivileged kids in the Fresno area new skating equipment.

Each skateboard is a product of each person's imagination and their reflections on social issues, superheroes, sports stars, and popular culture at large.

A few boards done by the artists featured late icons like Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle.

Fresno Skateboard Salvage first started the "Art From The Inside" auction featuring work from incarcerated artists in the Spring of 2020.

After last year's success, the nonprofit has received many requests for another auction.

This year's auction will be held virtually due to COVID-19. You can find more information on their Facebook page.
