A herd of cows briefly took over U.S. 34 in La Porte County, Indiana, on Saturday, February 6.
Around 75 Holstein calves escaped a nearby farm before mooving to the highway, which created quite a sight for drivers.
“No one was in danger as long as you pulled over and let them pass. They were following each other along, not one cow was by themselves ... their eyes were bright, they looked so excited," Melissa Kuczmanski told the South Bend Tribune.
Kuczmanski stopped driving to film the happy cows galloping along the snowy road.
“Never in my life did I imagine we’d see something like this. It doesn’t sound like cows walking down the road would be fun, but it was really exciting," she said.
Freedom for the cows didn't last long though. An off-duty sheriff's deputy who was nearby saw the swarm and was able to warn drivers of the oncoming stampede.
Law enforcement and a group of volunteers were then able to round up the cows and get them off the road. No cows or humans were injured in the incident.
