Video Shows Fiery 12-Vehicle Crash That Left 1 Dead On I-75

At least one person has dead in a 12-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Cobb County, Georgia.
The Thursday morning (February 11) crash left clouds of billowing black smoke ascending from the jammed highway.
The Georgia Department of Transportation said Thursday that nine cars and seven tractor trailers were involved in the crash. GDOT footage captured the aftermath of the crash, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Authorities say the crash happened on I-75 northbound, near Barrett Parkway. It happened shortly after 11 a.m. One person has died and injuries were not immediately confirmed as of midday Thursday.
Cobb County Police tweeted Thursday that the multi-vehicle accident involves a tractor trailer, adding that the “fatal vehicle crash” involves more than a dozen cars.
Witnesses at the scene described “chaos” when speaking with WSB-TV, which shared video footage of the “fiery crash.”

Drivers should plan to avoid the area, including by taking Highway 41 to Kennesaw to avoid the accident, the station noted.
Northbound lanes were shut down as of midday Thursday.
Cobb County Police anticipate I-75 northbound to be shut down for at least another six hours as police and Cobb County Fire officials “work to investigate and clear the scene.”
