A 90-year-old Seattle, Washington woman wanted to make sure she was on time to get her COVID-19 vaccine. So she walked all the way there following a snowstorm, according to FOX 6.
Fran Goldman told reporters she was determined to get the vaccine because she wanted to see her grandchildren again. However, the resident faced difficulties securing an appointment. She called the process "frustrating" after trying for weeks.
"I had been spending a great deal of my time trying to get an appointment for a vaccination and finally on Friday, late afternoon I got one. I woke up Saturday to all the snow and thought ‘uh oh’. I know that our driveway is inaccessible in the snow," Goldman said.
A wintry storm left roads in the Seattle area either iced over or completely buried. Since driving was out of the question, she decided to do a practice walk from her home in Seattle to the hospital on Saturday (February 13). Come Sunday (February 14), the 90-year-old walked three miles to her appointment without any issues.
This isn't Goldman's first snowstorm, however. She "moved here eight years ago from Cincinnati, Ohio, so she knows a thing or two about trudging through the snow," reporters wrote.
"I got my vaccination and then I was told I had to sit and wait 15 minutes to make sure there was no reaction, and I said I’m delighted to sit," Goldman said. She reportedly walked three miles back home to a proud family. She said she hopes there isn't another snowstorm so she can drive there next time but is willing to do it again if need be.
