Carly Pearce has a lot to celebrate this week as she releases her new EP 29 — and it looks like she isn't the only one celebrating! Lee Ann Womack, one of Carly's heroes, sent her some flowers to congratulate her on the new music, and Pearce recalled what it was like receiving the thoughtful gift.
In a new interview with Billboard, Carly explained, "I can't even begin to tell you what it means to have your heroes like what you're doing. Lee Ann has always been such an influence of mine, but especially on this new collection. She's become a friend, and it's so fun to have your heroes be everything you always hoped they'd be. It would be a dream come true to collaborate with her."
Elsewhere in the interview, Pearce also opened up about her song "Show Me Around," which is a tribute to late music producer Busbee. She shared, "I carry so much of busbee with me. Not only did he teach me so much about my voice, songwriting, etc., but he taught me so much about life and about owning who I am. I think me laying my heart out there for the world to see is much to his credit. I think he would be so proud of me."
Pearce's 29 EP follows her 2020 self-titled album, and showcases seven songs in total including "Next Girl" and "Should've Known Better."
In a new video posted to her YouTube channel, Carly explained of 29, "I think that these songs are for not just me, but for anybody who just has life and is trying to get through it and trying to figure it out as they go. And I hope that they help you to remind you to keep going and remember your light and who you are, and to not stop chasing your dreams."
She added, "To me, 29 is a pivotal year for everybody. I think that you are old enough, but you're still excited about life and you still have wonder, and I think that you feel and admit things if you get hurt. And what's so beautiful about that place in life, I think, is that you get stronger and you get better, and you get more yourself through it all. And that's truly what I want for everyone. And I hope that's what they feel when they listen to it."
