Kelly Rowland has returned with her first project in over seven years.
On Friday (February 19), the 40-year-old singer released K — a six-track EP that is, in short, a collection of celebratory jams.
K, which marks Kelly's first project since her 2013 album Talk a Good Game, includes her latest singles, “Coffee,” “Black Magic,” and “Flowers.”
The EP comes just one month after Kelly welcomed her second child, Noah. The Destiny's Child alum recently spoke about the congruent timing of her new music and the expansion of her family, telling the Associated Press, “A couple of months ago, I said I’ll have two births: the birth of the baby and the birth of an album."
She added, “Some songs I’ve had for years, some of the songs I’ve had for maybe a year or a couple of months, but it’s all come together so beautifully."
Kelly additionally spoke about how her relationship inspired the EP.
“I definitely tell you some of me and [my husband] Tim [Weatherspoon’s] business,” she said with a laugh. “When I hear a song, I don’t hear it for, ‘Is this going to be a hit record?’ I hear it for how it makes me feel … and with the records that everyone will hear on the [EP], there’s a connection to all of them.”
