The Boston Calling music festival will once again be canceled in 2021.

The annual event scheduled for Memorial Day weekend announced its cancelation for the second consecutive year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"The health and safety of our entire community is always our top priority, and there was no appropriate scenario under which we could provide the Boston Calling experience you love and deserve," organizers wrote in a statement obtained by WCVB on Monday.

Customers who have already purchased tickets will have an option of a full refund or allowing tickets for this year's even to roll over for the 2022 festival, which is also scheduled for Memorial Day weekend next year.

Refund requests must be made before the 5:00 p.m. deadline on March 8 and can be made online through the customer's account, organizers said in the official statement released on Monday.

Individuals who do not request a refund are also being offered a credit for use on the festival site in 2022, according to the statement. The amount of credit being offered will depend on the ticket type purchased, which ranges from $15 to $75.

Boston Calling was set to be held at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston.
