Central Texas was rocked by a fiery explosion on Tuesday morning after a tractor trailer collided with a train carrying hazardous materials.

Three tanker cars carrying coal and gasoline burst into flames around 7 a.m. on FM 2095 in Cameron. The tractor trailer's driver slammed into the freight train after swerving to avoid a car that stopped at the train crossing, according to Milam County authorities.

The fire from the explosion was so intense that nearby residents were evacuated from their homes. The fire burned for several hours after the explosion.

“There’s no more threat at this point. Just put the fire out and clean the mess up," Milam County Sheriff Chris White said.

Amazingly, no one was injured but a nearby home burned down, KWTX reported.

Damage from the fire could have been much worse because of dangerous materials that were aboard the train.

"There was some coal, gasoline, and some other items that," White said when describing what the train was hauling.

"The biggest threat was the phosphoric acid solution, but that was one car behind the fire and so it was not perforated ... and we do thank God for that. By the grace of God we were saved on that one."
