Fatherhood had changed Travis Scott — for the better.
On Tuesday (February 23), i-D magazine published their Spring 2021 cover story with the chart-topper, 28, where he opened up about how fatherhood has impacted his life "Fatherhood influences my job. It has a huge impact," the rapper told director Robert Rodriguez of being a parent to Stormi Webster, 3. "It’s a major inspiration, you know what I’m saying? Especially Storm, she’s just acting like a kid. She’s always interested, she catches on and learns things and adapts to things so fast."
Scott went on to admit that youth have a different outlook on life and that's a perspective that is necessary to consider when thinking about his responsibilities on personal and professional fronts. "Kids show you a different outlook on life, how they view things, the type of pressures they have and what makes them happy, what makes them move,” the Houston native explained. “Like, when she watches certain movies or listen to certain songs. Or she watches my concerts on YouTube and she realizes she’s there, she’s ready to see now. I realized my job is way more important than what I thought because of her. More responsibility, you know? You’ve got to use that properly."
Elsewhere in the cover story, La Flame spoke about his upcoming Utopia LP, which he proclaimed will sound unlike the rest of his discography. "I never tell people this, and I’m probably going to keep it a secret still, but I’m working with some new people and I’m just trying to expand the sound. I’ve been making beats again, rapping on my own beats, just putting everything together and trying to grow it really," he teased. "That’s been one of the most fun things about working on this album. I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range."
To celebrate their collaboration, i-D and Scott have teamed up to launch a limited edition i-D x Cactus Jackcapsule merchandise collection, featuring a range of hoodies, T-shirts and a beanie. The line will be available for a limited time via Scott’s official website and i-D's online store.
