Carrie Underwood unleashed another track from her upcoming gospel album, My Savior, and this release features the one and only CeCe Winans.
On the five-minute cover of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," the females trade verses as the backing piano bring them to a climax with one final verse. "Great is Thy faithfulness/ Great is Thy faithfulness/ Morning by morning new mercies I see/ All I have needed Thy hand hath provided," they collectively sing on the final hook. Thomas O. Chisholm originally wrote "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" as a poem in 1923, before it was composed into a song by William M. Runyan after Chisholm sent him the lyrics.
Earlier this month, Winans teased the collaboration in a message on Twitter. "Thank you @carrieunderwood for inviting me to sing with you on this amazing project. It was an honor to be a part," she wrote, before referencing the pair's appearance on her livestream event, An Evening of Thanksgiving. "Also, thank you again for coming to sing for my online concert next week."
"Great Is Thy Fathfulness" is one of the 13 cuts from Underwood's upcoming David Garcia-produced LP, which is scheduled to drop March 26. The song follows the release of Underwood's cover of "Softly and Tenderly." "I want it to appeal to the people like me who grew up singing these songs but also, we’ll be introducing these songs to a whole new generation as well," Underwood previously said of the project. "When you think about the meaning behind Easter, it is about so much thankfulness to Jesus. That is what this album is about. What a joy it’s been to make music like this right now."
