Seattle residents will have more chances to get a COVID-19 vaccine later this month, according to KOMO.
Mayor Jenny Durkan announced Monday (March 1) that the new mass vaccination site is coming to Lumen Field Event Center with no confirmed date. They plan on initially administering 5,000 doses across two days per week, she added.
“It's going to be one of the biggest undertakings we’ve ever done in this City, but it's the only way we get to reopen,” Mayor Durkan told KOMO. According to the city, the Community Vaccination Site at Lumen Field is expected to open by mid-March.
Starting Monday as well, the Seattle Fire Department will be operating two walk-up vaccination sites at the COVID-19 testing facilities in Rainier Beach and West Seattle, reporters said. SFD personnel will reportedly be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and the testing and vaccination lines will be socially distant.
"Each site will administer roughly 1,000 first doses each week. While the City does not have the necessary doses, a City spokesperson said SFD could administer 1,000 first doses each day," KOMO wrote. Due to limited supply, registration for both vaccination sites will be focused on referral-only registrations; there is no public registration available at this time.
