A Utah woman is now left tracking down $130,000 that vanished after her bank closed out her account, reported KSL.

Terry Johnston said that she had gotten several notices from her bank, Wells Fargo, but they had gone unopened for several months. She says she should've opened them sooner, as they warned her of one of her accounts in danger of closing.

Johnston had four accounts with the bank and used the one containing $130,000 as her savings account, intentionally leaving it untouched.

She called Wells Fargo a few months later and learned that her money had been sent away.

She explained, "They said, 'Oh it's already been taken and it's up in Salt Lake City in the unclaimed property. I said, 'How can you call it unclaimed property? This is our account. We have three other active accounts with that bank.' "

At first, she was not worried. But, after checking the unclaimed property website, nothing came up.

She said that the division said that the money was not in their coffers.

After searching for two months, she reached out to KSL for help.

Utah State Treasurer David Damschen told the news outlet that the money hadn't made it to their office, but he was eventually able to track it down.

He said, "We immediately went in, searched for the property, couldn't find it anywhere. As you might imagine, we have a lot of close relationships with banks so I called a senior manager at the bank and said, 'can you help us with this missing money situation?' The problem was solved within minutes."

The money was found sitting in an account at the bank where money is collected as it is prepared to be sent to the Unclaimed Property Division.
