West Des Moines Mayor Steve Gaer will not run for a fifth term

West Des Moines Mayor Steve Gaer will not be running for a fifth term this year.

In a statement on Facebook, Mayor Gaer said serving as Mayor has been "the honor of a lifetime."

Gaer was first elected in 2007 after serving on the City Council for the previous eight years.
