An honest Goodwill employee in Hurst, Texas, helped a couple from making a very expensive mistake.

Last month, a man rushed into the store saying that his wife donated a jacket with $5,000 in the pocket. It was a simple mistake on the wife's part, but it wasn't going to be easy to find a wad of cash.

"We roughly get anywhere from 50 to 2300 donations a day, so when the customer had come in, I explained to him that we had to go and sort through bag-per-bag," said Rhonda Davis, the manager at the Hurst Goodwill.

Davis told the man they'd look for the cash but couldn't promise that they'd find it.

"Two weeks had gone and we had sorted through a lot of clothes and we still hadn't found it," said Davis.

That is until Makayla Delapena showed up for work. Nearly three weeks after the wife dropped off the jacket, Delapena found it while sorting through donations. She knew it was the missing money because there was even a bank receipt with in the pocket.

Delapena let her supervisors know and they were able to return it to its owner.

Delapena didn't walk away empty handed. Goodwill thanked her for her honesty with a bonus.
