Much wow, such amaze! The Dallas Mavericks are now letting fans use the cryptocurrency dogecoin to buy game tickets and team merchandise.
Dogecoin is like bitcoin but it was inspired by the doge meme that features an adorable shiba inu.
"For those of you who would like to learn more about dogecoin, we strongly encourage you to talk to your teenagers who are on TikTok and ask them about it. They will be able to explain it all to you," team owner Mark Cuban said in a statement.
The Mavs were the first NBA team to start accepting bitcoin and other digital currencies in 2019. Cuban started accepting dogecoin on March 4 "because we can!"
"Because we can, we have chosen to do so. We have chosen to do so because sometimes in business you have to do things that are fun, engaging and hopefully generate a lot of PR. So we will take dogecoin, today, tomorrow and possibly forever more," Cuban said.
Currently, one dogecoin is worth about $0.05, according to coindesk.
