Three New Hampshire men face criminal charges after police said they placed multiple anti-mask stickers in and around Manchester City Hall in February.
Skylar Bennett, of Concord; Frank Staples, 41, of Manchester; and Jason Gerhard, 35, of Northfield, were all charged with criminal mischief, the Manchester Police Department announced in a news release shared on its Facebook account.
Police investigated an incident occurring at City Hall on February 2 in which stickers criticizing a mask mandate implemented in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 amid the ongoing pandemic were placed on doors at City Hall, trash cans and traffic sign posts.
Officers determined the stickers were both "difficult to remove" and "inappropriate," noting that they “made reference to living in fear, citizens being controlled, and masks being a sign of cowardice,” according to the department's news release shared on its Facebook account.
Police were able to identify the suspects as Bennett, Staples and Gerhard and issue warrants for all three individuals through video surveillance of the incident.
Bennett and Staples both surrendered and were arrested on March 5, according to the department. Gerhard was arrested on March 7.
All three individuals were released on PR bail.
